Notes: | Representative of a 1977-1996 Jensen #51 power plant using a 1967 Jensen #50 as the core of the project (like Jensen built them...though boiler used predated actual Jensen #51s that used convex faced boiler vs. flat.), solid cast iron engine, cast flywheel, plywood base, AC/DC electric generation, electrical control panel/analog metering, functional feedwater pump and water tower, electrically heated. perhaps my favorite engine in my entire collection. Fewer than 300 Jensen #50s have ever been made and only 27 converted into Jensen #51 flagship, top of the line models. Last made was 1996. This example was my attempt to make a replica of the #51 using photos only as a guide. Scrounging parts plus restoration took 10 months and was completed in Dec. 2006. I am very pleased with the final outcome. Extensive coverage of the conversion process is documented on my website. |
