Notes: Here we have a early raised base SE2 displaying the classic features of the period: thick-rimmed flywheel, long handled whistle and good build quality all round. This example is in original playworn condition and comes complete with the maroon strawboard box. This engine existed in this forum until approx 1958, when a redesigned and wider firebox was introduced as well as a vapourising spirit lamp.

Notes: This is an engine which can be termed as transitional, in as much as it has the new 1957 firebox and boiler band but continues to use the 3-wick burner and baseplate with retaining ears. This was to be the last incarnation of the engine with a wick burner. Engine has screw construction throughout and features a characteristic thick rimmed flywheel.

Notes: SE2 had been in the Mamod range since 1937, 30 years later this was the last. The final SE2 featured wider firebox, vapourising spirit lamp, SE3 crank and turned brass whistle. This example is in original playworn condition. Note the hammered green paint on the engine frame, typical of this period in Mamods history.

Notes: This engine has been totally refurbished by myself, with all of its oringinal parts, because it was in a poor condition and unsafe to use. The engine has a standard pressure release valve, side boiler filler, the older brass type whistle, and a single feed pipe to the piston head, with one relief pipe to the chimney. It has a meths burner, and this sits at base plate height, and is not sunken. Note the burner entarnce is also on the balance wheel side.
