Notes: O Barnaby Bolton No1 High Speed Steam Engine. This engine has a Bore of 1.5" X a stroke of 1.5" The stated power rating for this engine is up to 1/4 HP. The engine incorporates a cast iron frame, with gun metal bearings, cranks , guides & glands . The cylinder end caps are cast iron as is the bore & the piston. The flywheel is cast iron & of 6" diameter. [ I think as the engine was manufactured using imperial measurements I should quote its dimensions in imperial measurements] I think this unit was manufactured sometime between the 2 world wars. The iron castings were forged in Sydney, although I am not sure where it was machined but it is probably safe to assume that this to was also in Sydney as this was the time period when Bolton was working at his peak & in the Sydney area. I have owned this engine for some 4 plus years, it runs like the proverbial singer sowing machine on as little air as 3PSI & is capable of prodigious power output if fed with up to 60PSI.
